General instructions

FysNet offers physics courses for science, engineering and technology students of nine Finnish universities. FysNet courses aim to expand your knowledge and skills in areas relevant to your degree. The courses are offered by specialists in different fields of physics and can therefore be complementary and relevant for every student. The courses are intended to be included by students and their study advisors (HOPS-ohjaajat) in the degree programmes covered by the FysNet cross-study agreement.

FysNet offers over 40 university physics courses, which you can cross-study flexibly and usually fully online. Through FysNet, you can study advanced (34), intermediate (5), doctoral (3), and basic (2) courses.
For students, the courses are free of charge.

Before enrolling in a course:

  1. Please check the preliminary knowledge requirements of the course.
  2. Notice that some of the courses might have a limit on the number of participants.
  3. Check with your study advisor (HOPS-ohjaaja) whether and how the course can fit in your degree programme.
  4. Check the registration deadline and enroll in the course on time. The late registration (jälki-ilmoittautuminen) is not possible for the network studies.

Enrolling in FysNet courses happens in your Sisu or Peppi through a national cross-study system (RIPA). When logged in to Peppi or Sisu, you can search and register for the FysNet courses. You will automatically receive transferred credits for courses completed at another university. More instructions for students from different universities are provided below.
