Collaborating

At the master's level, discussions and collaboration among university physics educators led to the creation of the FysNet course list and the development of new courses.
At the bachelor's level, collaborations and synergies were born to share teaching materials, good practice and learn from each other. Here, we list the resources developed under the FysNet project or otherwise. To add new resources to the list, please see the instructions below.

Resources for basic physics courses:
Developed in FysNet

  • Abacus tasks are ready-to-use materials for lecturing and exercises.
    In FysNet project, educators from TAU developed easy abacus tasks for basic-level physics courses. In addition, tasks from Aalto University were translated to English.
  • Johan Linden from Åbo Akademi University, together with Jami Kinnunen from Aalto University, collected a list of physics demonstrations in Finnish.
  • Jussi Malila from the University of Oulu and Lasse Heikkinen from the University of Eastern Finland compiled a list of all basic and intermediate physics courses taught in Finnish Universities to compare teaching structures and find new synergies.
  • A set of COMSOL demonstrations for basic and intermediate physics courses on different topics was developed by experts from Åbo Akademi University as part of the FysNet project.
  • Within FysNet, a working group was established to discuss teaching in the era of AI use. See the documented discussions here.
  • Experts from Aalto University developed and ran the first trials of an electronic submission form for laboratory work. See the report here.

Other resources for basic physics courses

  • Materials for the peer tutor education in DigiCampus were developed in collaboration between Tampere University, the University of Helsinki, Aalto University, and the University of Eastern Finland.
  • Over 120 "Opi fysiikka" YouTube videos were developed by physics educators in the University of Jyväskylä to explain and visualize various physics topics.
